Supporting students in becoming the authors of their own success stories.
At WIC, we're dedicated to supporting you in various ways throughout your studies — offering a comprehensive suite of reliable services designed around your success.
Disability Support
You may have a disability and be eligible for disability support if you have:
- Sensory or mobility impairments
- Long-term illnesses
- Mental health conditions
- Specific Learning Differences (SpLD) such as dyslexia, ADHD, dyspraxia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia, and Irlen syndrome
- Autistic spectrum conditions
Disabilities are not limited to what is listed, so please come and talk to one of our Wellbeing Officers to discuss your health or learning difficulty.
Support for Learning
If you do not have a current diagnosis of a learning difficulty, speak to one of our Wellbeing Team, who can discuss the best way to get a diagnosis.
Health & Wellbeing — Physical Health
As a student, especially if you've relocated, register with a local GP practice via the NHS website (“Find a GP”). Dentists operate separately from GPs — search “Find a Dentist” on the NHS website. Anyone can register with a GP practice in England and receive free primary care, though some treatments (e.g. dental, prescriptions) carry a nominal charge.
Health & Wellbeing — Mental Health
Talk to your Academic Tutor or a Student Support Officer about the challenges you're facing, use academic workshops from the ACE team and online library resources, establish a study routine, and prioritise rest, food and exercise.
