Board Governor (External Member – Finance & Audit)
WIC is seeking to appoint an External Board Governor with significant expertise in Finance and Audit to join our Board and contribute to the ongoing success and development of the College.
About the role
We are particularly interested in candidates with substantial professional experience in finance, accounting, audit or financial governance, risk management and internal controls, financial planning and budgeting, and regulatory compliance. Professional qualifications such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA or equivalent are desirable. Experience in technology, law, strategy, higher education, HR, commercial development or widening participation would also be advantageous.
Key responsibilities
- Contribute to the strategic direction and governance of the College.
- Provide expert oversight and challenge on matters relating to finance, audit, risk, and compliance.
- Support the Board in ensuring financial sustainability and effective stewardship of resources.
- Support and challenge the Executive Leadership Team constructively.
- Attend Board meetings and participate in relevant committee work, including the Audit and Risk Committee where appropriate.
